Rhythm Spell
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Rhythm Spell is a typing rhythm game where you use the entire (alphanumeric) keyboard and test your typing skills to the beat of the music!

The game consists of two modes:
Community Mode:
You can play different levels with songs of any kind made by and for the community, and you have a complete level editor to make from simple levels to professional levels with unique visuals!

You can download community levels on the official Rhythm Spell Discord Server:
There are 5 official levels available (press the name to hear the song)!
Tutorial [EASY], MALACHITE☆ [EASY], Tenma [NORMAL], Straw Hat [HARD] and glitter ✩‧₊˚ [HARD]
And a lot of community levels!
(A featured level made by the community)
Story Mode:
NITRO-RI is a virtual idol and this is her game. But, beyond the game itself, there's a whole world of diverse symphonies to explore alongside a talented NEET girl named Ritmo, with many dreams and many conflicts to face and BEAT.

The story mode is planned to be released in chapters, but it relies heavily on support for the game through donations (as well as the game's progress itself), so if you like the game and want to see it grow, you can help me by giving me your support!
or buying the game on itch.io!
IT'S RECOMMENDED TO USE A QWERTY KEYBOARD, buuuut you can change the keyboard layout anyways!
The "notes" are called keys and there are 3 types of keys:
| Key-Touch: It is square-shaped and you have to press it once. | Key-Keep: It is circular-shaped and you have to keep it pressed until the end. | Key-Hit: It is diamond-shaped and you have to press it multiple times in a certain rhythm. |

Hoooooooooly crap this game is hard. 😵Like... too hard to even finish the tutorial song.
I'm used to rhythm games where the notes are in lanes, positions correlating to where they physically are. But I imagine this takes inspiration from Project Diva. I swear I've played that, too, albeit never at the hardest level, and the colors/shapes of the notes help distinguish which buttons to push. I think my main critique/ask here is: please make the tutorial use fewer keys. Maybe only the one line of keys for someone just starting out? Or maybe something like, color the keys to which line they are (red is qwerty, green is asdf, etc) so they're easier to tell apart?
I think there's potential to entice players who want a really difficult game! And I did click on this because "the entire keyboard" is such a wild, interesting idea. But I also think the first level could be less um... demoralizing. 😅It's completely understandable if this all gets ignored 'cause playtesters have already figured this game out; have a nice day.
Heyyyy I like that color line idea, maybe i will add it hehe
And talking abt the tutorial level... yeah it's kind of hard lol, it's like a challenge to test your skills and tbh i will probably nerf it a bit, especially the final part, (but anyways you can also use the practice mode that lets you even skip to the part you have struggles!)
The idea of only using a line of keys for a tutorial level seems a bit contradictory to the idea of the game tho, I want to empathize from the beginning that the keyboard is your area of game, and you shouldn't limit yourself with it and the area where the keys are shown (that's what the notes are called) is equivalent to the keyboard, so it's easy to get the hang of it
But I still appreciate your feedback and ideas for the game, I'm happy you took your time to write and play it ^ ^! (also i'll be honest with u, i've never played Project Diva lol)
Open the launcher, there's a new update with some of your ideas 😎
Ooo neat thank you! After turning it on and some more tries, I managed to finish the tutorial level. 😆
I think the colors do help for the custom levels (although I'm still a ways away from passing the Normal song that's included 😅but it makes more sense than before)
